Liverpool Dating: Meet Singles in Liverpool

Fancy a date by the Albert Dock? Most of our Merseyside members are 25 to 54. Pick a section and see who’s nearby.

From Kirkby to Port Sunlight, Merseyside is here

Dating in Liverpool doesn’t stop at the city boundary, or even at the river. Our Merseyside members give home towns on both banks of the Mersey: Liverpool itself, Kirkby, Crosby, Litherland and Fazakerley in the north, Wavertree and Dingle to the south and east, and Port Sunlight over the water on the Wirral.

It’s a grown-up crowd. Close to nine in ten are between 25 and 54, the most common age is 35 to 44 at about two in five, and three in ten are 45 or over. About two in five are women.

First dates only Liverpool can do

On the waterfront

Start at the Pier Head, under the Royal Liver Building and the rest of the Three Graces, and stroll south to the Royal Albert Dock. The Museum of Liverpool and the Merseyside Maritime Museum are both along the route, handy if it rains, and the Beatles Story is there if one of you has somehow missed it. A Mersey ferry from the Pier Head gives you the whole skyline and nearly an hour on the river, with nowhere to rush off to.

Hope Street and the cathedrals

Hope Street runs between the city’s two cathedrals, and the Anglican one, Liverpool Cathedral, is open to everyone and spectacular on a sunny day. The Philharmonic Hall and the Everyman Theatre share the same street, and Bold Street’s independent cafés and restaurants are a short walk away.

Parks, sand and a little further out

Sefton Park has a Victorian Palm House and a lake to walk round, with Lark Lane’s bars on the doorstep. Up the coast, Antony Gormley’s Another Place sets a hundred iron figures along Crosby Beach, all staring out to sea; go for the sunset. Over on the Wirral, Port Sunlight’s model village and the Lady Lever Art Gallery make a quiet afternoon date.

Getting to each other is the easy part

Merseyrail makes a Merseyside date simple to set up. The Northern line brings you in from Southport, Crosby, Ormskirk and Kirkby, and the Wirral line runs under the Mersey to Port Sunlight, West Kirby, New Brighton and Chester. In the centre, Lime Street, Central, Moorfields and James Street put you within a short walk of the waterfront, Hope Street and Bold Street.

Buses cover the gaps and the tunnels make the Wirral a quick drive. Look up the last train before you settle into a second drink, meet somewhere public, and let a friend know your plans. Our safety advice has the rest.

Love, fun or something in between

Merseyside leans towards relationships: a quarter of members here are in Single Encounters.

Living in Chester? Liverpool is one train away

If it’s dating in Chester you’re after, Liverpool is the closest of our city pages, and Merseyrail’s Wirral line runs straight from Chester into the city centre, so a date by the docks needs no changes and no car. Stretch your match distance to cover Merseyside, and see singles near me for how it’s worked out.

Heading inland? Dating in Manchester covers Greater Manchester, Preston looks after Lancashire, and our locations page lists every city we cover.

Merseyside dating, answered

Can I meet someone from the Wirral?

Yes. Port Sunlight, the model village on the Wirral, is one of the home towns our Merseyside members give, and Merseyrail’s Wirral line runs under the Mersey into the city centre, so a date on either bank is easy to set up.

Is Liverpool a good place to find a relationship?

Yes. About a quarter of our Merseyside members are in Single Encounters, the section for people who want something long-term, more than twice its share across the whole site.

Where should we go on a first date in Liverpool?

The Royal Albert Dock or Hope Street. Both are central, public and full of places to sit down, and you can walk from one to the other in under half an hour.
