Yes, and here’s everything worth checking

Yes. Encounters.uk is a UK dating site, online since 2014, with four sections: Casual, Single, Mature and Milf Encounters. Each section is its own membership with its own sign-up, and the whole site runs on the HubPeople dating platform. Every member starts on Classic membership, and VIP and VIP Plus are paid plans for anyone who wants more. It is not Encounters Dating, which is a different company.

Below is what that means day to day: what Classic membership includes, what VIP and VIP Plus add, how renewals work, what other members can see about you, and straight answers to two points members have raised.

Who is behind Encounters.uk?

Encounters.uk went online in September 2014 and has been running ever since. The idea was simple: dating is easier when everyone around you is after the same kind of thing. So the site is split into four sections. Casual Encounters is for adults after fun without the strings, Single Encounters is for people who want a relationship, Mature Encounters is for singles over 40, and Milf Encounters, the newest, brings older women and younger men together.

The site runs on the HubPeople dating platform, which is where your profile, your matches and your messages live. There’s nothing to install: open it in the browser on your phone, tablet or laptop, and pin it to your home screen if you’d like it a tap away. Our about page tells the rest of the story.

What do you get with Classic, VIP and VIP Plus?

Classic is the membership you start on, whichever section you join, and it does more than you might expect. You can build a profile, add photos, browse and swipe, get match suggestions every day, post updates and comments, try the polls and quizzes, and use a daily quota of messages. Anything a VIP or VIP Plus member sends you, you can open and answer.

VIP is the paid upgrade. With it you can message as much as you like, search by city, distance and what people are open to, join the chat rooms, start a group chat, undo a swipe and see everyone who has liked you. VIP Plus goes a step further: your messages and likes jump the queue, your profile leads other members’ daily suggestions, and you can add profile boosts and Super Match. Plans run from one week to 12 months, and every price, section by section, is on the pricing page.

Will my plan renew?

Yes, unless it’s a 12-month plan. A one-week, one-month, three-month or six-month plan renews automatically, at the price you first paid, until you cancel it. A 12-month plan runs for its year and then stops, so there’s nothing to remember at the end. If you only want VIP for a short spell, put a reminder in your phone a few days before the renewal date and decide then.

What can other members see about you?

Less than you might think. These controls come with every membership, from Classic to VIP Plus, in every section.

  • Your username

Members know you by the name you pick when you join.

Nobody sees your real name or your email address.

  • Your nearest town

Your profile places you in the nearest town or city.

Never your address, and never where you are right now.

  • Block

    Block anyone, whenever you like.

Once blocked, they can no longer contact you.

  • Report

Report any profile or message from inside the site.

If something feels wrong, you don’t have to put up with it.

What members have told us, and what to do about it

Members who have left us reviews have raised a couple of points, and both deserve a straight answer.

The daily messages run out. They do, by design. Classic membership comes with a set number of messages each day, and VIP is how you remove the limit. If you’re chatting to several people at once, save your messages for the conversations you care about most, and remember that when a VIP member writes to you, you can read it and reply. A message that picks up on something in someone’s profile gives them far more to answer than a quick hello, so make each one count.

Finding people nearby. Encounters.uk has members in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. London leads, and the West Midlands, Hampshire and West Yorkshire come next. Wherever you live, the city pages show the areas nearest you, new matches arrive every day, and if more than one section suits you, join both: each has its own members.

Is Encounters.uk the same as Encounters Dating?

No. Encounters Dating is a separate UK dating service, run by a different company, which says it has worked with The Times and The Sunday Times. We have no connection with it at all. The names are close, so check the address in your browser: ours is encounters.uk, and our sections live at www.encounters.uk, single.encounters.uk, mature.encounters.uk and join-milf.encounters.uk.

An account on one doesn’t work on the other, and a subscription to one isn’t a subscription to the other. Encounters.uk vs Encounters Dating sets out the differences side by side.

How do you spot a fake profile?

Fake profiles turn up on dating sites of every size, and the tells are much the same wherever you meet people. Slow down if you notice any of these:

  • The photos look professional, or there is only one, and the profile says almost nothing.
  • They want to move to WhatsApp, text or email within a few messages.
  • The details keep changing: their job, their town, why they are single.
  • There is always a reason they can’t meet.
  • Sooner or later there is a request for money, gift cards or crypto, or a link they want you to click.

If something feels off, stop replying, block them and report the profile from inside the site. Never send money to someone you haven’t met. Our safety page covers meeting in person, and our other dating guides, from profile tips to first date ideas, take it from there.

Is Encounters.uk legit? Your questions

Is Encounters.uk legit?

Yes. Encounters.uk is a UK dating site, online since 2014, with four sections that are each a separate membership. It runs on the HubPeople dating platform, members begin on Classic, and paid VIP plans add extra features.

Is Encounters.uk the same as Encounters Dating?

No. Encounters Dating is a different company with its own site, members and subscriptions. Encounters.uk has no connection with it.

What do Classic members get on Encounters.uk?

Classic membership works the same in all four sections. It covers your profile and photos, browsing and swiping, daily match suggestions, status updates, polls and quizzes, and a daily message allowance, and you can read and answer anything a VIP member sends you. VIP and VIP Plus are paid, with every price on our pricing page.

Does Encounters.uk renew automatically?

Yes, unless you chose a 12-month plan. Every shorter plan carries on at its original price until you cancel it, and the 12-month plans end on their own.

Can other members see my real name?

No. Members see your username, and your location appears as your nearest town or city. You can block or report anyone from inside the site.
