Nottingham Dating: Meet Singles in Nottingham

Singles in the city and right across the county. Choose a section and start browsing Notts members.

Notts singles, from West Bridgford to Worksop

Looking for dating in Nottingham beyond the city centre? Once you’re signed up to Encounters.uk, you can browse members from all over Nottinghamshire. Ours give their home towns as Nottingham itself and suburbs like West Bridgford, Bulwell and Hucknall, villages such as Calverton and Lambley, and towns further out including Mansfield, Newark, Retford and Worksop. Long Eaton, just over the Derbyshire border, turns up too.

Other members see your nearest town, never your address or where you are right now, so you can be clear about your patch without giving too much away. Your daily matches then weigh up distance alongside age, what you’re looking for and the things you enjoy.

Choose the kind of date you’re after

Casual Encounters is where you’ll find about four in five Nottinghamshire members: adults meeting for flirting and fun with no strings attached. The rest are split evenly between Single Encounters, for people who’d like a first date to lead somewhere, and Mature Encounters, for singles over 40.

Joining one section doesn’t put you in the others. If you’d like to try something casual and something serious, sign up to each and write a profile to suit it.

Twenty-something or nearer sixty, you’re in good company

Nottingham’s age mix has two peaks. Nearly half the county’s members are under 35, about a quarter are 35 to 44, and another quarter are 55 to 64. People aged 45 to 54 are thin on the ground, so if that’s you, stretch your age range a few years either way and your suggestions will fill out.

A first date that starts at the left lion

Here’s a simple plan for a first date in Nottingham, built around places that locals have known for years.

  1. Meet by the left lion. The two stone lions outside the Council House on Old Market Square have been the city’s meeting point for generations, and “meet you by the left lion” is a line every Nottingham local knows. The tram stops close by.
  2. Walk to the Lace Market or Hockley. Both are a few minutes away, with independent bars and coffee shops in old red-brick warehouses, and both are calmer than the main shopping streets. Hockley also has Broadway, the independent cinema, if you’d like to sit side by side for a couple of hours.
  3. Finish below the castle. Castle Rock is riddled with caves, and the old pub built into the sandstone at its foot makes a memorable last drink.
  4. Keep the daytime ideas for date two. Try the deer park at Wollaton Hall, the Arboretum, a walk along the Victoria Embankment by the Trent, or Sherwood Forest and the Major Oak if one of you lives up near Mansfield.
  5. Get home without fuss. NET trams run north to Bulwell and Hucknall and south to Clifton and Toton Lane, and Robin Hood Line trains go up to Mansfield and Worksop. The trams run late but not all night, so know when your last one leaves.

Are there older singles in Nottingham?

Yes. About a quarter of our Nottinghamshire members are 55 to 64, alongside a younger crowd: nearly half are under 35.

Where’s a good first meeting point in Nottingham?

The left lion on Old Market Square. It’s central, it’s on the tram, and the Lace Market and Hockley are a few minutes’ walk away when you’re ready for a drink.
